Bria and Kyle – Baking Engagement Session

Bria and Kyle’s engagement session is perhaps the most personal I’ve photographed. Both Bria and Kyle are overflowing with personality and charm, and so this session felt much more like “having a camera on a normal Sunday” than “engagement session.” We took advantage of the beautiful spring sunshine, the unusually warm temperatures (not pictured: extremely squishy grass), and enjoyed some delicious cookies at the end. Congratulations to Kyle and Bria, and best wishes for your marriage!

Indians vs. Twins – August 13th, 2011

My dad and brother joined us for an Indians game last weekend. We had stellar weather, and watching the Tribe win (and Jim Thome kindly hold off on #600) is always a good time. I remember very clearly the 90s glory days of the Indians, when getting tickets was much more difficult than it is now. Progressive Field is still a beautiful ballpark, though, and the Indians will always be my team. The game not only provided entertainment but a chance to try out some new editing techniques for a more dramatic finished product. I’m pretty pleased with the results!

Transformation of East 9th for the Avengers

We went downtown last night to catch the Tribe game (photos from that coming soon!) but also managed to snag some photos of the managed mayhem on East 9th. I love that Cleveland is becoming a destination for action movies, but it does feel a little gross to watch the crew cover up our Gateway district signs with signs for Midtown. At least the Cleveland city map was still up!

I also love the signs for NYC restaurant week, the NYC taxis, the van that looks rigged to blow up, and the extremely stagey rubble/chaos. Fabulous. I can’t wait to see where these shots end up in the movie!

Golden Hour at Cropicana on Whiskey Island

The weather this week has been far too spectacular to spend it solely at our own house. Thursday night we ventured out to Cropicana to enjoy the evening on the water, and I took the camera to see what I could find. What I ended up with were some great candid shots of children playing, fun sunset shots across the lake, and a few snaps of the old Coast Guard station glowing in the evening light. Parents, if these are your kids, email me and I’ll happily send you copies of the photos!

A few words about Cropicana: it’s a completely unpretentious bar and restaurant truly well-suited to its location. The food is well worth the wait during peak hours. Chef Steve Schimoler’s menu features local, fresh, and seasonal ingredients, and the raspberry margaritas (which I had) are strong and not overly sweet–just the way I like them. I highly recommend Cropicana for a sunny evening.
